Sri Radhakanta Math (Gambhira) is situated at Bali Sahi, Jagannath Puri, Orissa in an area of 5 acres of land. In 15th Century, during the ruling period of King Pratap Rudra, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu came all the way from West Bengal to pay a visit to Lord Jagannath. After visiting Lord Jagannath Temple, a well-known scholar named Kashi Mishra who was the Raj-Guru of King Pratap Rudra provided shelter to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in his own house. It was a very small room, which is called as Gambhira. In Oriya language, Gambhira means a small place where the valuables kept safely.

The Gambhira is situated behind Sri Radhakanta Temple, which was the worshiping deity of Kashi Mishra (Raj-Guru). Until today, there are about 20 Mahantas in disciplic succession since the time of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

At present, His Holiness Sri Dhyana Chandra Dasji Goswami Maharaj, about 76 years old is Mahanta of Sri Radhakanta Temple. He has accepted successor chella (disciple), Sri Krushna Gopal Dasji Maharaj, who is about 42 years old. Chella Maharaj is taking total care of the Radhakanta Math and dealing all the day to day affairs.
There are about 33 branches of Radhakanta Math in different places of India. One of them is at Navadwip Dham, the birth place of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Another is at Vrindavan (Uttar Pradesh State) also. The Head Office is at Sri Radhakanta Math, Puri.
